For thirteen years I’ve called auctions across Queensland, New South Wales and the ACT, from suburban family homes to prestige residences, commercial assets and charity galas. Along the way I’ve been named Auctioneer of the Year three times.
What I’ve learned is that a great result is rarely made on the day. It’s made in the vendor meeting, in the conversations about reserve, in reading which buyers are genuine, and in the calm that lets a room bid with confidence. That’s why I call every auction myself.
Alongside calling, I coach agents in the auction method. It keeps me close to the craft, and it means I understand the pressure the agent is under, not just the room.

Originally from Melbourne, David learned the art of auctioneering first-hand in general auctions before moving into real estate sales and auctioneering. He went on to become Chief Auctioneer for LJ Hooker Australia & New Zealand, before founding his own independent practice, now HOLMES, calling auctions across South East Queensland, Northern New South Wales and the ACT.
